NABARD, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha; Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Palladium organised a strategy workshop in Mayurbhanj of Odisha for farmer producer organisations (FPOs) on exporting fresh vegetables from Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore districts in the north zone of the state.

Punjab agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Friday proposed to Union minister of food processing industries minister Chirag Paswan to set up a mega food park in Bathinda. He said the Centre would help enhance agricultural productivity, create job opportunities, and increase the farmers’ income.

A significant surge in basmati rice exports has growers optimistic ahead of the harvesting season in Punjab and Haryana. Despite the condition of the Minimum Export Price, India’s basmati exports saw an increase of nearly 25% in the 2023-24 fiscal, at Rs 48,389.21 crore. 

India has raised concern over its large trade deficit with China and the non-transparent subsidies and mechanisms followed by the latter, which it said lead to low prices and hurt the local industry. At the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Policy Review of China this week, India also said it hoped China would support issues concerning the global south.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds in Italy and discussed plans to take forward the negotiations on the proposed free trade agreement, an official statement said on Wednesday.
