The US Trade and Development Agency has approved grant funding for technical assistance to help create an integrated aviation hub at the Hisar Airport in Haryana, aiming to develop airport cargo and logistics infrastructure to strengthen India's supply chain network, a top official has said.

In order to prevent hoarding and unscrupulous speculation, and also to improve affordability to the consumers in respect of tur and chana, Government of India has issued an order where it has imposed stock limits on pulses applicable to wholesalers, retailers, big chain retailers, millers and importers. The Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2024 has been issued with immediate effect from June 21, 2024.

Indian coffee exporters are witnessing an increase in demand from European buyers who are seen building inventory ahead of the deadline for compliance to the proposed European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) norms. 

Saddled with a high trade deficit more than a decade after implementing a free trade agreement with Malaysia, India is set to begin a review process of the pact in a joint commission meeting to be held soon with its trade partner to expand and diversify the trade basket and make it more balanced, sources have said.

Australian Deputy High Commissioner Nicholas McCaffrey on Tuesday said his country is currently engaged in discussions with the Indian government to establish a comprehensive free trade agreement between the two nations. Speaking at an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, McCaffrey highlighted that while there is an existing Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) with India, signed in 2022, Australia aims to upgrade this pact to enhance its scope and impact.

The talks between India and Korea on the review of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) have made significant headway, with both sides exchanging the list of ‘requests’ where they want further opening up of trade.
