Indian traders involved in border trade with China through the Lipulekh pass in Pithoragarh district since 1992, have requested the central government to take up the issue of resumption of border trade through this route with Beijing.

The country’s rice imports expanded by over a quarter to more than two million metric tons (MT) from January to May compared to last year’s level, according to the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI).
