Australian desi chickpea prices rose sharply after India suspended tariffs on imports, opening the door to a revival of a trade once worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Nair held a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting with their Ghanaian counterparts in Accra from 2nd to 3rd May, 2024. India and Australia have held discussions under the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) negotiations between the two countries to review the progress made after nine rounds and the way forward for its completion to reach a balanced outcome.
 
An Indian delegation led by Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal had 'very constructive and productive discussions' on various trade and prospective investment-related issues with the Australian delegation led by Deputy Secretary George Mina from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Canberra as well as the businesses in Sydney and Melbourne for deepening the existing economic relations between the two democracies, taking advantage of the trade complementarities and expertise and unexplored potential both economies have, a Commerce and Industry Ministry release said on Saturday.

The 12th India-Netherlands Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) 2024 held Friday in The Hague, Netherlands, saw the two countries’ governments reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The government has lifted export ban on onion and imposed a minimum export price (MEP) of $550/tonne, a day after it re-introduced 40 per cent export duty.
