15 17 JUL 2012 Nigeria Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - Narrative The responsibilities for regulating Nigeria?s food safety systems devolve within many GON organizations and agencies although National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has played the lead role over the past decade. In 2010, the USDA/FAS collaborated with NAFDAC on a HACCP conference where all sectors in Nigeria?s entire food safety chain participated. The HACCP conference underpinned the subsequent inauguration of Nigeria?s National Food Safety Management Committee (NFSMC) which will take responsibility for food safety systems and operations when fully institutionalized.
