On June 16, 2023, the Government of Egypt (GOE) issued a WTO/TBT addendum extending the requirement for halal certification of imported milk and dairy products until October 1, 2023 Click here
4 11 AUG 2023 Egypt FAIRS Annual Country Report Annual In June 2022, Egypt launched a trial phase of the Advanced Clearance Information (ACI) system on airfreight, in which a three-month grace period will be extended prior to enforcement. 11 03 OCT 2022 Egypt Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards Export Certificate Report In June 2022, Egypt launched a trial phase of the Advanced Clearance Information system (ACI) on airfreight. The government is expected to fully apply the electronic ACI system in October 2022. This comes after the October 1, 2021, launch of the ACI in sea ports. Traders must register within the designated platforms (CargoX for exporters and ACI for importers). 31 22 DEC 2017 Egypt Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - Narrative The new food safety agency in Egypt is now a reality after the Egyptian parliament approved law number 1/2017 establishing the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) on January 2nd, 2017. The purpose of the NFSA is to unify the Egyptian food safety system through both structural and legislative reforms. The multiplicity of food control authorities has hampered Egypt’s food safety system with duplication and inefficiencies in the implementation of food safety laws and measures. When it becomes operational, NFSA will likely foster the adoption of science-based rules helping to facilitate trade. Click here

Under decree 2992/2016, issued by the Egyptian Prime Minister, the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s (MTI) General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) will be the only authorized government agency responsible for the inspection of corn, soybeans, and wheat at ports of origin. 35 30 DEC 2014 Egypt Egypt : Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - Narrative The Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) report provides an overview of the food laws and regulatory environment in Egypt as it relates to U.S. food and agricultural exports. The Minister of Agriculture announced recently that his ministry will take the lead in establishing a Food Safety Authority, which would consolidate Egypt’s disparate food safety system.
