With the initiative of Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, a target of 1100 additional Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) has been allocated to National Cooperative Development Corporation by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI, for formation and promotion of FPOs in cooperative sector through strengthening of PACS under the Central Sector Scheme - Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs.

The Indian dairy industry is set for a revenue growth of 13-14 per cent this fiscal, as strong consumer demand continues along with improved supply of raw milk. While the demand will be supported by rising consumption of value added products, the ample milk supply will be driven by good monsoon prospects, Crisil Ratings said in a statement.

It is observed that the Food Processing Industries have emerged as an important part of the Indian economy in terms of its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, exports and so on. During the last eight years ending 2022-23, food processing sector has been growing at an Average Annual Growth Rate (AAGR) of around 5.35%.
