India is hoping for some assurance from the EU on mitigating the industry’s concerns on complying with the bloc’s environmental rules, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Deforestration-free products Regulation (EU-DR), at the five-day negotiations for the India-EU Broad-based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) starting in Delhi this week.

Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry during the 2nd and last day of his visit to Vientiane, Lao PDR participated in the 12th East Asia Summit Economic Ministers’ Meeting (EAS EMM). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, the ASEAN Chair for 2024. The Economic Ministers or their representatives from all the 10 ASEAN countries and 8 other EAS partners viz. India, USA, Russia, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand were present in the meeting. Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste joined the Meeting as an observer.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will meet Indian and Australian CEOs this week to discuss investment opportunities, an official statement said on Sunday. At the invitation of Don Farrell, the Minister of Trade and Tourism of Australia, Goyal will undertake a visit to Australia from September 23-25.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has set up ‘APEDA Pavilion’ at World Food India 2024 organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Pavilion was inaugurated by Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Shri Rajesh Agrawal in the presence of Chairman, APEDA, Shri Abhishek Dev, senior officers of APEDA, several importers and exporters, amongst other stakeholders.

Today’s office inauguration comes after India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced setting up of an Invest India office in Singapore during his visit to the country on September 4th and 5th, 2024.

At the invitation of Senator, The Hon’ble Don Farrell, the Minister of Trade and Tourism of Australia, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry will undertake a visit to Australia from September 23-25, 2024.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has released the Third Advance Estimates of 2023-24 of Area and Production of various Horticultural Crops compiled on the basis of information received from States/ UTs and other Governmental source agencies.
