India’s trade dependence on China and the EU increased in 2023 while it reduced on Saudi Arabia, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said. In its Global Trade Update, it said that trade in goods resumed growth in some of the major economies such as India and China in the fourth quarter of 2023 even as trade in services may have reached a plateau.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered all manufacturing firms of fortified rice to integrate a new national traceability application into their operations in order to prevent adulteration of the final product.
India has mandated the fortification of various food staples progressively since 2019 in an effort to reduce malnutrition in the country, with rice being a key target for iron, vitamin B9 and vitamin B12 fortification.

India and the United States (US) have informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) that both countries have been able to arrive at a mutually agreed solution regarding the dispute over poultry imports from Washington.
