APEDA flags off Karnataka jamun as first export consignment to London.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has flagged-off the first export consignment of fresh Jamun fruit from Karnataka to London. The commerce ministry's arm APEDA’s move marks a significant step in promoting India's traditional fruits from different regions in global markets. Earlier only frozen Jamun were exported from the country.

Coffee exports up 125 pc to $1.8 billion in last 11 years: Govt data.
The country's coffee exports have jumped about 125 per cent to USD 1.8 billion in the last 11 years on account of a series of measures taken by the Coffee Board of India, according to the central government data. The exports stood at over USD 800 million in 2014-15. It was USD 1.28 billion in 2023-24 and USD 1.14 billion in 2022-23, the data showed.

Karnataka mango growers to be compensated jointly by Centre, State under PDPS scheme.
In a major relief to the mango farmers in Karnataka, the Centre and the State government have decided to jointly compensate the growers by paying the differential price. The decision to pay the differential price for 2.5 lakh tonnes of mangoes grown in the state was taken during a video conference between the Union Agriculture Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan and the Karnataka Agriculture Minister N Chaluvaraya Swamy. Union Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi also participated in the virtual meeting, an official statement.

More Indian exporters availing benefits of free trade pacts with Australia, UAE.
Issuance of preferential certificates of origin -- a document enabling exporters to claim tariff benefits under free trade pacts -- has risen significantly for Australia and the UAE in 2024-25, indicating increased advantage of such agreements for domestic exporters. The number of preferential certificates of origin issued by India under free trade agreements (FTAs) with Australia and the UAE rose by 19 per cent and 24.7 per cent respectively, in 2024-25, according to the commerce ministry data.

TN moves to secure GI tags for five indigenous farm products.
In a major initiative to protect and promote the state’s indigenous agricultural wealth, the Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board (TNSAMB) has moved to obtain Geographical Indication (GI) tags for five native farm products. The move, announced in the state’s Agriculture Budget 2025-26, is aimed at enhancing the market value of these traditional crops and improving the livelihoods of farmers engaged in their cultivation.

The casual meeting between Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and UK Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds settled the remaining differences in what has been described as a 'balanced' and 'practical' trade pact.
