India’s spice exports hit a new high of $4.72 billion in FY25 on strong demand
The record shipments in FY25 is despite chillies witnessing a decline in value due to fall in prices. Chillies remain the largest product in India’s spice basket, both in volumes and value, accounting for over a fourth of total spice exports. India’s chilli exports were down 11 per cent to $1.34 billion during FY25, from $1.50 billion in the previous year. The fall in prices impacted the chilli exports despite volumes witnessing an increase of around 19 per cent to 7.15 lakh tonnes ( 6.01 lakh tonnes).

India always ready to conclude trade pact with low hanging fruits: Piyush Goyal on US trade deal
India is keen to finalize a trade agreement with the US by initially focusing on easily achievable aspects, according to Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Discussions are underway in New Delhi, with hopes of an interim deal before July 9. Both nations aim to significantly increase bilateral trade to USD 500 billion by 2030, building on the existing USD 191 billion.

Agri production increased by 40% in 10 years: Union Minister Chouhan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a 40% increase in India's agriculture production over the last decade, with a 5.4% growth rate in the fourth quarter of FY2024-25. Union Agriculture Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan says India will be turned into food basket of the world
Addressing farmers at the ICAR-IIHR campus in Hessarghatta in Bengaluru city outskirts, as part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, the Minister indicated that the Centre is looking beyond feeding the 145 crore people of India. The Union Government would collaborate with State Governments, agricultural universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendra's (KVKs), farmers, and scientists to draw a comprehensive roadmap to achieve this goal.

India-EFTA trade pact to come into effect in September: Piyush Goyal

India eyes bigger slice of global Agri trade as APEDA flags export potential
India’s agricultural export sector holds vast untapped potential, according to Abhishek Dev, Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). Speaking at the inauguration of Indus food 2025 in Greater Noida, Dev noted that while India is the world’s seventh-largest Agri exporter, it currently accounts for just 2.4 per cent of the $2 trillion global agriculture trade. He emphasized that this modest share presents a “huge opportunity” for Indian exporters to scale up.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Meets Farmers in Telangana
Under the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan', Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacted with farmers in Telangana today. He first visited Mansonpally village in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district to interact with farmers, followed by a Kisan Chaupal at Ramachandraguda village. During the interactions, farmers informed the Minister that they are adopting diversification and integrated farming practices, which have helped boost both their production and income. After the Kisan Chaupal, Shri Chouhan addressed the farmers at a programme organized in Mangalpally, Ibrahimpatnam. Shri Chouhan remarked that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy, and farmers are its soul. He said, “I am wholeheartedly committed to fulfilling the responsibility entrusted to me by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Today marks the completion of the first year of his third term in office, and I extend my warm congratulations and heartfelt wishes to him.”
