India pegs wheat, maize and rice production at record high.
The Indian government on Wednesday said the country achieved a record foodgrains production of 353.96 million tonnes (mt) in the current crop year to June 30. The record production included an all-time high output of 149.07 mt in rice, 117.51 mt in wheat and 42.28 mt in maize. The current year’s foodgrain output is 6.5 per cent higher from 332.3 mt achieved in 2023-24.

'Leading In Agriculture Development': PM Modi At Sikkim's 50th Celebration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called Sikkim a pride of the country and said the Centre seeks to make the northeastern state a global tourism destination. 'In the coming years, India is poised to emerge as a global sports superpower. The Yuva Shakti of the Northeast and Sikkim will play a pivotal role in realising this dream,' he said, as he addressed Sikkim's Golden Jubilee of Statehood celebration in Gangtok via videoconference.

UK flags new Indian market for Scottish salmon trade after FTA.
The UK government has flagged the unlocking of the Indian market for Scottish salmon following the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India, finalised earlier this month and expected to be formally signed off in the coming weeks. Downing Street has this week been highlighting benefits of the India-UK FTA and other trade pacts struck in its wake with the US and European Union (EU) in an effort to showcase the sectors and regions across the United Kingdom set to benefit.

India to remain fastest-growing large economy in the world for next 30 years, said Union Minister for Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal at CII Annual Business Summit 2025 today in New Delhi. On India’s economic trajectory, Shri Goyal stated that the country has maintained sustained growth of 6–7% and hopes to push it to 8% at constant prices.

A 100% no food labels sent packing: FSSAI asks food companies not to make false claims of absolute purity.
The government has tightened scrutiny on packaged food companies, directing them to discontinue claims of 100% on food labels, packaging and promotional content. It has termed such claims as 'misleading to consumers, and ambiguous and prone to misinterpretation'. In a May 28 advisory, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said 'the term 100% is not defined or referenced in any manner under the Food Safety Act'.

India’s Agricultural Exports Rise by 6.47%, Rice Exports Exceed Rs 1 Lakh Crore.
India’s agricultural and allied sector exports witnessed a significant increase of 6.47% in the fiscal year 2024-25, reaching $51.91 billion. This growth is particularly noteworthy given that the country’s total merchandise exports remained nearly at the previous year’s level of $437 billion, recording only a marginal increase of 0.1% during the same period. While agricultural exports have surged, they are still below the record high of $53.1 billion achieved in 2022-23. In 2023-24, agricultural exports stood at $48.8 billion.
