Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Monday that the state govt was considering a Rs 500 crore project dedicated to the rejuvenation of apple horticulture.
He said the project would be implemented over five years and would focus on promoting high-density plantations to enhance farmers’ incomes and strengthen the rural economy.

India’s total exports (Merchandise and Services combined) for November 2024* is estimated at USD 67.79 Billion, registering a positive growth of 9.59 percent vis-à-vis November 2023. Total imports (Merchandise and Services combined) for November 2024* is estimated at USD 87.63 Billion, registering a positive growth of 27.47 percent vis-à-vis November 2023.

Ministry of Food Processing Industries is supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in Food Processing activities through its schemes. Under Centrally Sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, Ministry provides grants for Seed Capital  up to Rs. 40,000/per member of SHG.  Individual SHG member  can avail credit linked grant @35% of the project cost with maximum ceiling of Rs.10 lakh as a single unit of food processing enterprise. SHGs are also eligible for assistance under relevant component schemes of Central Sector Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).
