US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlighted the potential of the US-India partnership, emphasising the need to lower tariffs and to increase trade and make it more fair and equal.

Commerce and Industry Minister, Shri Piyush Goyal held a video conference with Mr Maroš Šefcovic, European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security; Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency last night. This conference—the first introductory meeting between the two leaders after the assumption of the charge of the new European Commission of the European Union(EU) —was convened to discuss India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, High Level Dialogue, India-EU Trade and Technology Council, other high level engagements & trade and investment issues. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both the sides.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that his meetings with the top leadership of Kuwait during his two-day visit will help chart a roadmap for a futuristic partnership that benefits both countries and the region.

High interest rates are significantly hampering India's export competitiveness, prompting the commerce ministry to seek collaborative solutions with the finance ministry, senior officials disclosed on Wednesday. 

The interim government of Bangladesh will procure 50,000 tonnes of rice from India to address the depletion of the country's food stocks and thereby meet consumer demand for the cereal grain amid ongoing inflationary pressure.

West Bengal has emerged as India's top producer of meat, contributing 12.6% to the national output, according to Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2024, published by Centre. The achievement was largely attributed to robust poultry production in the state, surpassing Uttar Pradesh (12.3%), Maharashtra (11.3%), Telangana (10.8%) and Andhra Pradesh (10.4%).

The Government of India launched the Credit Guarantee Scheme for e-NWR Based Pledge Financing (CGS-NPF) on 16 December 2024, providing a Rs.1,000-crore corpus to support post-harvest financing for farmers. Under this scheme, farmers can access credit by pledging their produce stored in Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) accredited warehouses, backed by electronic negotiable warehouse receipts (e-NWRs).

The Udyan Utsav, organised in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) Hyderabad and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, aims to celebrate nature, promote environmental conservation and sustainability through people’s participation. People could make themselves aware about the innovation and technological development in agriculture and horticulture by visiting thematic stalls and participating in the workshops.
