Malaysia's diplomatic missions in India are exploring further steps to strengthen bilateral commercial links to achieve the annual trade target of US$25 billion by the end of 2026.

Malaysian High Commissioner to India, Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa,  last week travelled to the southern metropolis of Chennai and chaired an inter-economic agency meeting.

 

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Armenian National Assembly President Alen Simonyan held talks in New Delhi on Tuesday, focusing on strengthening bilateral trade, improving connectivity, and deepening the partnership between the two nations.

 

In November 2024, India and Bosnia and Herzegovina convened their fourth round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Sarajevo, reaffirming the intention to enhance bilateral relations and foster collaboration across diverse sectors.

 

Karnataka is expecting a promising economic growth due to good south-west monsoon, the state government said in its report.

Onion exporters on Monday met Union agriculture minister Shivraj Chauhan and demanded a stable export policy, besides withdrawal of the 20% export duty on onion, considering the rising supply of kharif onions, which have lower shelf life.

 

The state government is contemplating to formulate a Rs 500 crore dedicated project for the rejuvenation of apple cultivation. 'This project will be implemented for five years and will focus on promoting high-density plantations to enhance farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy,' said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while chairing a meeting to evaluate the progress of various schemes implemented by the Horticulture Department here today.

 

The Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project will be presented by the World Bank as an example project for other countries. Three years after the project’s 2016 commencement, the World Bank wrote to the Himachal Government in 2019 to shut it down since it had gotten off to a bad start and seemed certain to fail. Since the project didn’t seem to be progressing, the World Bank essentially opted to end it. The World Bank team head, Bekzod Shamshiev, stated, 'But then the Himachal government and the implementing agencies turned it around so effectively that we now intend to use it as a model project around the world.'

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in the national capital, with both nations acknowledging the benefits of the India-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (ISFTA) and consenting to strengthen trade settlements in their respective currencies.
