Heritage Foods has registered its highest-ever quarterly revenues in the fourth quarter of 2024-25. It achieved Rs.1,000 crore revenue in the March quarter. Its annual revenues was also a record high. Brahmani Nara, Executive Director of Heritage Foods, said that the company registered a revenue of Rs.4,134.6 crore in the financial year 2024-25.

In a strategic move to enhance Tamil Nadu's global economic footprint, State Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce, TRB Rajaa, met with the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Sandeep Arya, in Hanoi on Saturday. May 19, 2025 News Image Pulses import value drops 23.5% to $314 million during April on fall in purchase of yellow peas, lentils.
After a record imports last fiscal, India’s overseas purchase of pulses are likely to slow down in the current year. In April 2025, the import value of pulses declined by 23.5 per cent on sharp fall in imports of yellow peas and lentils over the corresponding period last year. As per the Commerce Ministry’s quick estimates, the pulses imports in value terms declined to $314.4 million during April, over same period last year’s $411 million.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued a notification imposing port restrictions on the import of certain goods such as Readymade garments, processed food items etc., from Bangladesh to India. However, such said port restriction will not apply to Bangladesh goods transiting through India but destined for Nepal and Bhutan.

India and the European Union have concluded the 11th round of negotiations on their proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA), reportedly agreeing to pursue a two-stage approach to finalise the deal, an official source, quoted by news agency PTI confirmed on Sunday.'The 11th round of talks concluded on May 16,' the official said, quoted by news agency PTI.

The government is developing a digital platform to enable the electronic submission of documents in trade remedy investigations with a view to further promoting transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for all stakeholders, an official statement said on Saturday. India is now the fourth largest exporter of marine products, commerce and industry ministry said, with 130 countries importing Indian marine products in FY25, as against 105 in 2014-15. In 2024-25, India exported 16.85 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of marine products from 10.51 LMT in 2014-15. Backed by advancements in aquaculture practices, better cold chain infrastructure, and adherence to international quality norms, the country’s marine exports grew to $7.2 billion in 2024-25 from $5.4 billion in FY15.

Wheat procurement in Punjab and Haryana concluded with lower volumes compared to last year. This decline is attributed to increased buying by private traders and processors, as well as farmers holding onto more grain.
