Huge export potential for alcoholic beverages; may reach $1 bn by 2030: APEDA Chairman.
Indian alcoholic beverages have huge potential in the global markets and the country has a lot of good products including gin, beer, wine, and rum to offer to the world, a senior government official said on Wednesday. He exuded confidence that the country's exports of alcoholic beverages will reach USD 1 billion by 2030 from the current USD 370.5 million.

India April business growth hits 8-month high as export orders surge, PMI shows.
India's private sector growth rose to an eight-month high in April fueled by robust demand, particularly a surge in foreign orders for manufactured goods, according to a survey, but business confidence showed some signs of softening. While the latest data underscores a vibrant start to the fiscal year for India's economy, the souring outlook will make it challenging to maintain momentum at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs have hurt business sentiment.

Tur procurement continues in major Tur producing states.
In order to incentivize the farmers contributing for the enhancement of domestic production of pulses and to reduce the dependence on imports, the Government has approved the procurement of Tur, Urad and Masur under Price Support Scheme (PSS) equivalent to 100% of the production of the state for the procurement year 2024-25. The Government has also made an announcement in Budget 2025 that the procurement of Tur (Arhar), Urad and Masur would be undertaken 100% of the production of the State for another four years up to 2028-29 through Central Nodal Agencies namely NAFED and NCCF to achieve self- sufficiency in pulses in the country.

Indian govt reiterates it will buy 100% of pigeonpeas produced by farmers at MSP.
The Indian government has reiterated that it will procure 100 per cent of the tur (arhar or pigeonpeas) produced by farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs. 7,550 a quintal. The reiteration comes as the Centre extended the procurement timeline in Andhra Pradesh by a month for the pulse crop. In a statement, the Agriculture Ministry said the procurement at MSP through National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (Nafed) and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Ltd (NCCF) was in progress in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana. A total quantity of 3.92 lakh tonnes of tur has been procured in these States, benefitting over 2.56 lakh farmers.

RBI provides relaxation for exports through warehouses in Bharat Mart in UAE.
The Reserve Bank on Wednesday relaxed norms to facilitate export through warehouses in 'Bharat Mart', a multimodal logistics network-based marketplace in the United Arab Emirates, that will provide Indian traders, exporters, and manufacturers access to the markets around the world. In a circular, the RBI said banks may allow exporters to realise and repatriate full export value of goods exported to 'Bharat Mart' within nine months from the date of sale of the goods from the warehouse.

Indian rice trade wants export price to Bangladesh increased.
The interim government in Bangladesh has allowed exports of aroma rice after a year-and-a-half, leading to a section of Indian exporters demanding that New Delhi hike it rice shipment prices to Dhaka. 'After 7 years, the Bangladesh government has given a quota to export its special rice variety, which could affect Indian speciality rice varieties such as Sona Masuri, Jeera Kasala and premium non-Basmati rice,' said a New Delhi-based exporter.

Farmers' Income, Agriculture Focus: Chouhan.
Asserting that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said the Centre's constant endeavour is how to improve agriculture and increase farmers' income. The agriculture sector, along with other related sectors, is going to play a key role to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat'" (developed India) by 2047, the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister said at an event in Karnal, Haryana.

A good monsoon: Despite a dwindling share, agriculture could buttress India’s growth projections amid rising global risks.
Amid the uncertainties and disruptions resulting from the ongoing global tariff war, India’s growth prospects seem to be at risk. Concerns have been raised over the future trajectory of capital expenditure and private sector investment for India, as the impact of a slowing global economy will make its way to domestic shores, sooner or later. Iran, India set to expand agricultural trade ties beyond $1b.
Iran and India are poised to enhance their agricultural trade volume beyond the current $1.0 billion, as announced by Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh following a meeting with India's Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the BRICS agriculture ministers’ summit in Brazil. The ministers reviewed previous agreements and reaffirmed their countries’ longstanding cultural, historical, and economic ties. Nouri Ghezeljeh expressed appreciation for India’s support in facilitating Iran’s membership in BRICS and noted that bilateral cooperation is entering a new phase.?
