Free trade deal with India could come this year - EU Commission chief.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen said EU and India were pushing to get a free trade agreement during this year. 'I am well aware it will not be easy. But I also know that timing and determination counts,' von der Leyen said in Delhi, adding that such an agreement would be the largest deal of this kind anywhere in the world.

India, Israel discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in agri sector.

With India and the US gearing up to start negotiations for a proposed bilateral trade agreement, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal's Washington visit will begin on Monday, according to an official. Meghalaya ships 15 tonnes of ginger to Dubai.
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Meghalaya government has made its first sea shipment of 15 tonnes of Meghalaya ginger to Dubai’s Lulu Group, in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). On Wednesday, February 26, the Japan-India-Africa Business Forum was held in Tokyo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Nikkei. Bangladesh launches new tender for rice purchase of 50,000 tonnes, traders claim.
The state grain buyer of Bangladesh has announced a new international bid to buy 50,000 metric tonnes of rice. The deadline to submit price offers is March 11, 2019. After a heavily damaged domestic crop last year, Bangladesh continues to purchase large quantities of rice on international markets.

India’s second green revolution to come from horticulture crops, says Ramesh Chand.
The next green revolution in India can come only through horticulture, which is growing at a faster pace than agriculture, said Prof Ramesh Chand, Niti Aayog member on Thursday. Addressing the inaugural session of the National Horticulture Fair 2025 at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticulture Research in Bengaluru, Chand said the annual growth in country’s horticulture sector is more than 7 per cent whereas the agriculture growth is less than 4 per cent.
