India top milk producer in the world: Animal Husbandry Minister.
India is the top producer of milk in the world and has set a target of producing 300 million metric tons (MMT) of milk in the next five years from the present 239 MMT, Union Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Singh also said that ever since the Modi government has launched the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) in 2014, the milk production in the country has increased by 63.5 per cent and the government is hopeful of further increasing it by 15 per cent in next three years.

India seeks easier export rules as US pushes for lower tariffs.
India-US trade discussions that kicked off on Wednesday focused on reducing India's tariff levels on goods imported from the US to the same levels as what US levies on such imports from India, two people aware of the talks said. The effort aims to avert US reciprocal tariffs that US president Donald Trump has promised to roll out on 2 April.

Afghanistan exported $500 million in goods to India despite Pakistani restrictions, official says.
Khan Jan Alokozai, a board member of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said the closure of transit routes through Pakistan had prompted Afghan exporters to seek alternative trade corridors. He noted that the majority of exports to India consisted of dried fruits — traditionally one of Afghanistan’s leading agricultural exports. 'Despite the challenges, we managed to export over $500 million in goods to India in the past year,' Alokozai said.

India surpasses Sri Lanka to become second largest tea exporter.
Finally, the Indian tea industry, which has been reeling under problems for years, has something to cheer about. According to data released by the Tea Board of India, India has exported 254 million kg of tea in 2024, thus becoming the second-highest exporter in the world. While Kenya retained the first spot in global tea exports, India surpassed Sri Lanka to take the second spot. Kenya exported over 500 Mkg of tea in 2024.

Amid news reports of a proposed truce between Russia and Ukraine in the ongoing conflict in the Black Sea, sources within the government have indicated that a reduction in tensions may ease the transport of Indian exports to CIS countries. Apart from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) comprises Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, and Moldova.

India may play bigger role in global value chains soon.
The NITI Aayog is working on a programme to improve India's penetration into global value chains for the growth of domestic micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), its chief executive BVR Subrahmanyam said on Wednesday. Observing that MSMEs are more affected by regulations than large companies, he said the PM has taken a major step towards deregulation and a task force under the cabinet secretary is working on it. Subrahmanyam was addressing a gathering after launching the 'Digital Excellence for Growth and Enterprise' (Dx-EDGE), a platform to empower MSMEs with the tools, knowledge and ecosystem needed to become future-ready, competitive and resilient.
